E. M. Bounds on Prayer

Prayer is the channel through which all good flows to men.  Prayer is a privilege, a sacred, princely privilege.  Prayer is a duty, an obligation most binding, and most imperative, which should hold us to it.  But prayer is more than a privilege, more than a duty.  It is the appointed condition of getting God’s aid.  It is the avenue through which God supplies man’s wants.”

I’d Rather Have Jesus – than anything!

  1. I’d rather have Jesus than silver or gold;
    I’d rather be His than have riches untold;
    I’d rather have Jesus than houses or lands;
    I’d rather be led by His nail-pierced hand

    • Refrain:
      Than to be the king of a vast domain
      And be held in sin’s dread sway;
      I’d rather have Jesus than anything
      This world affords today.
  2. I’d rather have Jesus than men’s applause;
    I’d rather be faithful to His dear cause;
    I’d rather have Jesus than worldwide fame;
    I’d rather be true to His holy name
  3. He’s fairer than lilies of rarest bloom;
    He’s sweeter than honey from out the comb;
    He’s all that my hungering spirit needs;
    I’d rather have Jesus and let Him lead

Fears of Revival

Here are some ‘fears’ people have of Revival:

1) Fear of exposure – people may find out my shortcomings and sin.

2) Fear of the cost – a total commitment to Christ.

3) Fear of the comfortable – may have to leave our traditions and comfortable structure.

4) Fear of the Unknown – we’ve been so far removed from real Revival.

Levels of Revival

Three levels or degrees to Revival:

1. Personal Revival:  “Revive Me…”     Ephesians 5:15-18

2. Inter-personal Revival: ” Revive Us…”  Ps. 85:6

3. Corporate Revival: “Revive Thy Work…”  Hab. 3:2

A W Tozer on Revival

Get thoroughly dissatisfied with yourself.  Complacency is the deadly enemy of spiritual progress.  The contented soul is the stagnant soul. Paul said “I press toward the mark” concerning spiritual things.  So stir up the gift of God that is in you.

Attributes of Revival Praying

Revival Praying should be:

1) Urgent – begging God to do a work NOW!

2) Desperate – our one and only hope!

3) Sacrificial – whatever it takes!

4) Brokenness – “YES, LORD”

5) Faithful – never giving up!

6) Patient – waiting on God’s perfect timing!

Sovereignty verses Free Will in Revival

Revival is God’s response to man’s obedience.  God sovereignly works when man willfully obeys.  We sow the seed for Revival but God sends it from heaven above!
